About the Author
JANETTE SEBRING-LOWREY(1892-1986) The author, who was a Texan writer, she wrote mostly teenage fiction in the 1950s and 1940s. The young adult novel she wrote Margaretwas transformed into a television series, Walt Disney Presents: Annette,
which aired on The Mickey Mouse Club in 1958, and starred Annette Funicello. However, Lowrey is most well-known for her novel her novel The Poky Little Puppy, that was among the first 12 Little Golden Books that launched in 1942. The book went on to become an icon, and was the most popular book for children of all time.
GUSTAF TENGGREN(1896-1970) is a well-known illustrator from his home country of Sweden prior to his move into America in the year 1920. United States in 1920. He illustrated numerous Golden Books, beginning with The Poky Little Puppy. One of the first Twelve Little Golden Books published in 1942,
The Poky Little Puppy was later to become the most popular picture book ever. Other famous Little Golden Books illustrated by Tenggren include The Saggy Baggy Elephant, The Shy Kitten along with Tawny Scrawny Lion. In the 30s of the 1930s Tenggren did work for Disney Studio, providing concept illustrations for characters as well as scenes from Bambi, The Old Mill, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, and Fantasia.
