Emily Gravett
Emily Gravett was born in Brighton. She left school without any qualifications, and then spent the next eight years on the roads (in several vehicles, including a truck caravan, and RAF petrol bus named Toby Diesel) until making her way at home in Brighton and securing a spot in the BA(Hons) Illustration program in Brighton University.
The first book of hers, WOLVES, was released in August 2005, to great acclaim. receiving the CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal and a number of other awards. It was the start of an amazing career of creating exceptional books for children.
Emily has also been awarded her the Best Emerging Illustrator Award at the Booktrust Early Years Awards for The Monkey and Me as well as the bronze prize in the age group 6-8 during the Nestle Children’s Book Prize for LITTLE MOUSE’S BIG Book of FEARS. In 2008, Emily was awarded the prestigious honor of winning another CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal for LITTLE MOUSE’S BIG Book of FEARS.
