In this essay we will learn about Surah Al Shams Transliteration. Surah Ash Shams (Arabic text: الشمس) is the 91st chapter of the Holy Qur’an. Surah Al Shams titled in English means “The Sun” . it consists of 15 verses only .

About this Surah:
The Surah Al Shams is in two parts, ayat 1-10 deal with one subject matter and 11-15 a second. The first part can be summarized into this one line, A Muslim’s happiness or misery in life is directly dependent on the purity or corruption he has brought into it (i.e. a person’s choices or actions determines his own fate).
The second part of Surah Al Shams gives account to the story Thamud – an ancient civilization near the time of Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him located in the north of the peninsula – and their negative attitude and transgression towards Allah’s messenger (Peace Be Upon Him). They disobeyed Allah’s command and killed the she-camel which inevitably lead to their own destruction.

| 1 | وَٱلشَّمْسِ وَضُحَىٰهَا | Wa al-shamsi wa duhaha |
| 2 | وَٱلْقَمَرِ إِذَا تَلَىٰهَا | Wa al-qamari itha talaha |
| 3 | وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذَا جَلَّىٰهَا | Wa al-nahari itha jallaha |
| 4 | وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَىٰهَا | Wa al-layli itha yaghshaha |
| 5 | وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَمَا بَنَىٰهَا | Wa al-sama-i wama banaha |
| 6 | وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا طَحَىٰهَا | Wa al-ardi wama tahaha |
| 7 | وَنَفْسٍۢ وَمَا سَوَّىٰهَا | Wa nafsin wama sawwaha |
| 8 | فَأَلْهَمَهَا فُجُورَهَا وَتَقْوَىٰهَا | Fa-alhamaha fujuraha wataqwaha |
| 9 | قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن زَكَّىٰهَا | Qad aflaha man zakkaha |
| 10 | وَقَدْ خَابَ مَن دَسَّىٰهَا | Waqad khaba man dassaha |
| 11 | كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِطَغْوَىٰهَآ | Kaththabat thamoodu bitaghwaha |
| 12 | إِذِ ٱنبَعَثَ أَشْقَىٰهَا | Ithin baAAatha ashqaha |
| 13 | فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ نَاقَةَ ٱللَّهِ وَسُقْيَٰهَا | Faqala lahum rasoolu Allahi naqata Allahi wasuqyaha |
| 14 | فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَعَقَرُوهَا فَدَمْدَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّهُم بِذَنبِهِمْ فَسَوَّىٰهَا | Fakaththaboohu faAAaqarooha fadamdama AAalayhim rabbuhum bithanbihim fasawwaha |
| 15 | وَلَا يَخَافُ عُقْبَٰهَا | Wala yakhafu AAuqbaha |
