Surah Al-Fil Arabic Text, Transliteration and English Translation

Surah Al-Fil (Arabic text: ٱلفِيل) is the 105th Surah of the Holy Qur’an. Surah Al-Fil is titled in English “The Elephant”. Surah Al-Fil have composed only 5 verses.

1	أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِأَصْحَابِ الْفِيلِ ﴿١﴾	Alam tara kayfa faAAala rabbuka bi-as-habi al-feel	HAVE YOU NOT SEEN HOW YOUR LORD DEALT WITH THE COMPANIONS OF THE ELEPHANT?
2	أَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ كَيْدَهُمْ فِي تَضْلِيلٍ ﴿٢﴾	Alam yajAAal kaydahum fee tadleel	DID HE NOT MAKE THEIR PLAN INTO MISGUIDANCE?
3	وَأَرْسَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ طَيْرًا أَبَابِيلَ ﴿٣﴾	Waarsala AAalayhim tayran ababeel	AND HE SENT AGAINST THEM BIRDS IN FLOCKS,
4	تَرْمِيهِمْ بِحِجَارَةٍ مِّن سِجِّيلٍ ﴿٤﴾	Tarmeehim bihijaratin min sijjeel	STRIKING THEM WITH STONES OF HARD CLAY,
5	فَجَعَلَهُمْ كَعَصْفٍ مَّأْكُولٍ ﴿٥﴾	FajaAAalahum kaAAasfin makool	AND HE MADE THEM LIKE EATEN STRAW.

SUMMARY

Surah Al-Fil affiliates Allah’s protecting of the Holy Kaaba from the army of Abraha which aimed to demolish the Holy Kaaba along with many elephants. God unleashed foul birds with small stones to eliminate the invaders, to demonstrate His fearsome might. Its themes include Tawakkul (dependence on Allah) and Rippping off Allah’s creations by disobeying his commands.
