Ramazan Increases Women’s Responsibility

Ramazan Increases Women’s Responsibility – In addition to their religious obligations, homemakers cook elaborate iftars and get up early in the morning to prepare sehri. Comparatively, working women have it better. They purchase snacks and food at the market because they do not have the time to cook for Iftar or sehri. They spend the rest of the time worshipping.

Zakia Khan of Chapel Sun City said Ramazan was not just a month for delicious meals. Fasting is an actual act of sacrifice. She complained that when the meal lacks salt in her society, the family becomes angry and takes it out on the women.

She says that preparing Iftar during Ramazan is the most difficult thing for housewives, while her sehri typically consists of leftovers from dinner, yogurt or parathas, and rice.

After three to four sleep hours, I get up and prepare sehri for my entire family. She said, “After eating sehri and saying morning prayers, I sleep for a little over an hour and then wake again to send my kids to university.”

She added, “Again, I sleep for a few hours before getting up to pray at midday.” “From that point on, the whole time is spent cooking pakoras, samosas, and fruit chaats for Iftar.

Zakia told her that she must also shoulder the responsibility of Eid shopping during the last ten days of Ramazan. The homemakers are responsible for at least three times as much during Ramazan, preparing sehri and Iftar and shopping for Eid.

Tahira Asad is a resident of Scheme 32. She said she plans her Ramazan schedule well before the holy month. “I save the shopping for shoes and jewelry until Chaand Raat so my kids can enjoy it,” she said.

Tahira is a woman who works. She said she comes home an hour earlier from the office to prepare Iftar. She added, “I do not need to worry about iftar because frozen items are readily available at the market.”

After Isha’s prayers, I prepare dinner and then go to bed. “After a few hours, I prepare sehri, which is a light meal, often leftover curry, yogurt, parathas, and so on,” she said. Tahira gets ready for work after her children leave to attend school.

Shabana Sajjad is a Gulistan-e-Jauhar housewife who believes women have greater societal responsibilities than men. She said that women sacrifice for their family’s comfort, particularly during Ramazan.

Shabana stated that Ramadan is the most costly in Pakistan’s history due to food inflation, making it nearly impossible for the average man to afford two square meals and fruits.

“One watermelon costs Rs 1,000, and a dozen medium-grade bananas cost Rs 400, but the income remains the same.” This time, we will not have fruit chaat to break our fast,” she said.
