Rabbana Atina Fid Dunya Meaning
This supplication is more than one of the most beautiful. It is also the most comprehensive dua, as it covers all matters in Dunya and the hereafter.
The world of (Dunya), the good, encompasses all that is good in this life. It also includes everything that people like.
- A righteous husband or wife
- A wealth of halal food is available.
- A child who brings joy to others
- Beneficial knowledge (ilaman naafi’an)
- Comfortable car
- A good profession
- Comfort and ease
- Righteous deeds
- Peaceful home, and other things that can be permissible and liked
- Comfortable ways to transport
- Sufficient provision Good praise
RABBANA ATINA DUNYA HASANAH TRANSLATION
The dua means “Our Lord, grant us in this world [that is] good, and in the Hereafter [that is] good, and protect us against the punishment of fire.”

RABBANA ATINA FID DUYA SURAH
This Dua comes from Surah Baqarah verse 200. There are 40 Rabbana Duas, 6 of which are from Surah Baqarah.
Quranic explanation of this Dua
This verse is a warning to Muslims who pray only for material gains. Even at sacred places and the exclusive time of Hajj. This is the goal of most of their attention.
The verse refers to those who pray by saying Rabbana Atina Fd Dunya Hasanah…, but it does not include the word Hasanah_ (good).
This shows that they don’t care about what is good in the world.
They don’t bother to find out if the item is good or not, if it was purchased rightly or incorrectly, or what other people think of them.

BENEFITS OF RECITING THE DUA
This dua is complete. The Arabic word hasanah means “all that’s good” and covers all things inwardly as well as outwardly. This includes, but is not limited too:
- A good wife (or husband)
- Pious Children.
- You can succeed in business, career or job.
- Personal and Family Health
- Being a good student.
- Desirable Morals.
- Having Beneficial Knowledge.
- Integrity, strength and courage.
Reciting this dua is done with the intention to recite it for a specific purpose. Allah knows what’s inside of you.
It is stated in the Tafsir Mufti Shafi Umani that:
This du’a, in short, is a compilation of all prayers. It encompasses every aspect of man’s other-worldly and worldly goals. The verse refers to both peace in this world and in the Hereafter. This is why the Holy Prophet PBUH used these words to pray very often.
It is 12 words long, making it easy to memorize and recite the Rabbana fid dunyadua. This dua is a good one to learn and keep in mind.
