Linguistic Evolution: Braintree High School Approves New Language Curriculum – Braintree: With no discussion, the school’s committee has voted to add an introduction to the Arabic course in The Braintree High School curriculum.
The addition is a part of the updated curriculum of study at the institution that the committee unanimously endorsed on Monday night.
Braintree High School principal Christopher Scully told the committee at the Jan. 8 session that they were seeking ways to enhance its international language offerings. The school has a teacher who is certified in teaching Arabic. The course is an elective for the whole year.

“This allows us to find out if there is student interest in the course,” Scully stated.
He stated that the number of students enrolled in the course must reach “in the double digits” for it to be offered. If there’s enough demand, another year could be added.
In an interview, Scully stated that the program is aimed at those with no prior language experience.
Arabic could be the third language used by the school in addition to French and Spanish. He added that adding a new language, like Mandarin, will require adding another teacher to the team.
