Holistic Well-being: Islam’s Emphasis on Nurturing Mental, Emotional, and Physical Health – With all that is happening in our lives, we are prone to feel overwhelmed occasionally when things aren’t considered in a positive light; the stress that results could cause excessive anxiety in the mind, which can lead to the degeneration of our mental and physical well-being.
Islam recognizes the importance of maintaining good physical, emotional and mental health. We have witnessed a significant rise in the past few decades in the instances of mental health issues. The mental health of people has been a topic of concern for a long time.
However, some people’s attitudes toward this condition are still scornful. Some even believe it to be an omen or a sign of mental fragility and weakness. This isn’t in any way valid. Anyone can be affected.
Muslims are of the opinion that the Koran could be used as a source of guidance for those who are suffering from emotional stress, which can result in mental illness, and the tenets of the Koran and Hadith are in agreement with this view.
The passage of time has not made a difference in the effectiveness of the Koran in healing, even after 1400 years. Through all times, the Koran seeks to guide people to a higher quality of life regardless of the situation, and mental health isn’t an exception.

There are a variety of ways to deal with and manage our anxiety by following spiritual guidelines and alternatives and conventional medications. However, the Koran is the most effective method and should be considered the primary defence against these issues.

The effectiveness of Surah Ar-Rahman in decreasing the symptoms of depression should be highly recommended. Ar-Rahman means “The Merciful” and is the 55th Surah (Chapter) with the 78 Ayats (verses) from the Holy Koran.
It is suggested to regularly read to aid sufferers of all kinds of diseases and ailments like anxiety as well as diabetes, hypertension, and even cancer. However, faith in Allah is also essential since we all are aware of the saying that “faith without works is dead”.
The repetition of Surah Ar-Rahman will surely bring the calmness of the mind, relaxation and calmness, which I can attest to. The Koran has been a source of comfort for me during numerous life difficulties, trials and challenges.
Muslims consider that the Holy Koran is a book that guides its readers in all aspects of their lives. We believe that finding solutions for various physical and mental ailments through reading and repeating specific verses from the Koran is possible and has been accomplished.
The constant remembrance of Allah will bring peace to the mind and heart. According to Allah states in the Koran: “… with the memory of Allah can hearts be at peace”. (Ar-Ra’d, 13:28)
Peace is the best way to encourage and foster well-being for bodies, minds and souls. No one in humanity should be in turmoil. The fight for peace goes on; we should continue to speak up, make our voices heard, and call for peace for all people everywhere. Peace should reign in our hearts and emanate from us, creating a healthy, peace-loving, wholesome, and healthy world.
