Here’s the exact hadith taken from the Sunan Abi Dawud number 5095.
“The prophet (SAWS) declared: “When an individual leaves his home and declares: “In the name of Allah, I trust in Allah; there is no might and no power but in Allah,” the following words will be spoken to him in that moment: “You are guided, defended and protected.” The devils will move away from him, and another devil will ask”How do you handle a person who is guided, protected and defended?

“The prophet (saws) declared, “Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, should not cause harm to his neighbors. Whoever is a believer in Allah as well as Allah and the Last Day, should serve his guests generously. If you believe to Allah as well as the Final Day should say about what is right or remain quiet.” Reference: Sahih al-Bukhari 6136. In-book reference : Book 78. Hadith 163
It is also possible to follow one more sunnah that was commanded by Prophet Muhammad to ensure peace and blessings be with Muhammad, and that is to say Surah Al Baqarah at your home.
Abu Huraira cited Muhammad’s messenger (pbuh) as saying: Don’t make your homes into graveyards. Satan flees from the place where Surah Baqaran has been recited. Reference: Sahih Muslim 780 in-book Reference : Book 6. Hadith 252

Abu Dawud 4/325. Muslim {adith (no. 2018) suggests that one be sure to mention Allah’s Name of Allah upon getting into the home and before eating and that the devil, upon hearing this, will say: “There is no shelter for us here tonight and no food”.
Jaabir (R.A.) recounts the story of Prophet Mohammad (S.A.W.) declared that when a person goes into his home and makes Dhikr (remembers Allah) and also creates Dhikr during meal times, then Satan tells his coworkers that the night can’t be spent there, nor could take part in the other people’s meals.
And if there was there was no Dhikr was made upon getting into the home, Satan informs his fellow workers that they are able to stay the night and if there was no Dhikr was served at mealtimes, Satan says to his fellow workers that they are permitted to remain there and also eat. The reason behind reciting this dua is to request Allah to grant His blessings. It is believed that if the home is unoccupied for long periods of time it is necessary to say a prayer before entering the house.
