Can You Hug Your Wife While Fasting? It has been made Allowed for you in the the night preceding fasting to go to your wives [for sexual relations, Intercourse, Kissing or Enjoy Mood]. They are clothing for you and you are clothing for them (Al Quran). Allah knows that you used to deceive yourselves, so He accepted your repentance and forgave you. So now, have Physical relations with Them and seek that which Allah has decreed for you. […] (Surah Baqarah, verse 187)

Based on this Verse , Islamic scholars have said that it’s Allowed for couples to have physical relations during In the nights of Ramadan (which I believe is what you’re asking about). Despite stating “the night preceding fasting,” this translation refers to the time during Ramadan.

Fasts are supposed to help us learn self-restraint in at least 3 desires.

You who believe! You are advised to fast, just as those who came before you were, in order to (learn) self-control. – (2:183)

We refrain from engaging in any activity that would in any way arouse or satiate these cravings when we fast.

You are allowed to approach your wives on the night of the fasts. You are their clothes, and they are your clothes. Allah is aware of the things you used to do in private among yourselves, but He has forgiven you. Therefore, you should associate with them, seek out what Allah has ordained for you, eat and drink until you can distinguish the white thread of dawn from its black thread, and then finish your fast until nightfall. However, you should avoid interacting with your wives while you are in retreat in the mosques. These are Allah’s (imposed) limits: Stay away from it. Allah makes His signs to humanity in this way so that people can develop self-control. . (Al Quran)

Shaykh `Abd Al-`Aziz ibn Baz said:

“A man who is fasting may kiss, touch, engage in sexual activity, embrace, and touch his wife without engaging in sexual activity.” Since the Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) used to touch and kiss his wife when fasting, this is acceptable and has nothing wrong with it.
