Can A Girl Lead Salah if Only Girls? The majority of Muslim scholars have the opinion that a woman can lead other women in followship prayer. Sheikh `Atiyyah Saqr, Islamic former head of Al-Azhar Fatwa Committee describes that:
“It is well known that congregational prayer (Salatul-Jama`ah, Salat Tasbih) far exceeds individual prayer in reward, and there are many hadiths, that support this. It is reported that the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) said: “The congregational prayer exceeds that of individual prayer by twenty five or twenty seven degrees.”
A woman is allowed to join the group prayer at mosques. The same rule applies to a woman who wants to join a congregational group in her house along with her family or other women, as well as at her work or even at school, College, University level where she studies or teaches.
Imam Malik describes that a woman, under any circumstances, is not allowed to lead other women in congregational prayer (Jummah, Eid or any). The majority of jurists, Although, maintain that a woman is allowed to lead her sisters in congregational prayer if there is no man were present. The evidence demonstrates an instance to prove their argument.
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) named Umm Waraqah as his muezzin before allowing her to lead the prayer for women who lived in her house. History shows that ‘A’isha (Peace Be Upon Him) served as the leader for female congregational prayer where she also performed prayer alongside other women in her group.
The Prophet granted Umm Salamah (may Allah accept her) permission to pray the same row with other women Jurists present two opinions about female leadership of women’s congregational prayer: women should maintain the same row’s position without leading others.
In the End Can A Girl Lead Salah if Only Girls? The authority states that when women lead other women in congregational prayers their prayers remain valid because evidence does not provide clear guidance. which states otherwise.”
