Where The Wild Things Are By Sendak Maurice – The 1963 children’s book Where the Wild Things Are was written by Maurice Sendak. It was originally published by Harper & Row. It has been translated into several media, including an animated version of the book in 1975 (with an updated version available in 1988), a 1980 oper, and a live-action 2009 feature film adaptation. As of 2009, the book had been sold more than 19 million copies in total. Ten million of these were in the United States.
In 1964, Sendak was awarded the Caldecott Medal by the children’s librarians. It recognized Wild Things as the “most distinguished American picture books for children” The book was also voted the #1 picture book in a survey of School Library Journal readers in 2012. This was not the first time.
